We teach life, Sir!

I was surfing on the net when this beautiful poem hit me. A Palestinian woman, Rafeef Ziadeh, recites a powerful self-written poem about Gaza. Her poem is based on answering a man who asks her why she and other Palestinians teach their children hatred. And what an answer she delivers!I simply fell in love with the way she conveys her message. Truly touching!

As many of us already know, our world isn’t all that good, delightful and just as many of the worlds’ governors want us to believe. We all have to wake up from our fantasy and realize what’s going on, what’s happening to innocent children, how people are killed daily with no one to hold responsible for the killings, and I could go on.

Watch the video and reflect upon whether you are one of those who take it for granted that everything’s just in perfect order in our little world. Have you given Gaza even the slightest thought?

Just by Googling “Gaza” one can get a small idea of all the injustice going on there. As we know, a picture tells more than a thousand words..

Do not forget Gaza!

  1. Do you always write in English? I’m getting myself confused now, trying to remember who writes in English and who writes in Danish…

But that’s not important. I’m really grateful to you for sharing this video, very powerful message. And yes, I do think about Gaza, and about Palestine frequently. Strange thing is, my family is incredibly pro-Israel (although it’s slowly changing, because I keep pointing out the many errors of their ways), so that’s how I grew up, as I got older I started getting more 50-50 (and I still don’t think the issue is black and white). However, what really helped change my mind about things, was when I got to know about Amira Hass, an Israeli journalist who’s lived in Gaza since the early 90′s. Her life’s been in danger so many times, because she actually dares to speak out against the Israeli government. It was after reading several of her articles and her work, I really started realizing how bad it was, because she is fairly objective, this is not her family, her land etc. on the line, but she still cares, and she still speaks up about it, and I really admire that.

You can read her articles here: http://www.haaretz.com/misc/writers/amira-hass-1.278
